On March 24, 1999, Shizukana Umi was launched as "Umi's Page" on a free hosting account. At the time, the page was named after my favorite character, Umi, from an anime called é”法騎士レイアース, or in English, Magic Knight Rayearth. As time went on, free hosting became a hassle as one after another began to add advertising and minimize the amount of features offered for their free service, and Umi's Page had to be moved to a paid host.
The site's name was officially changed to Shizukana Umi when I realized how confusing the name of site was for fans of Magic Knight Rayearth. A few people probably came in search for information on the anime, but I had nothing new to offer other than what was already on the web.
Now, Shizukana Umi is simply a list of all the sites I maintain sweet-umi.net.
